Where to find and farm Forgotten Souls in Diablo 4

A rare crafting material.

Playing Diablo 4 during the endgame is when it really gets exciting. One of the interesting endgame activities you can partake in are Helltide events. In the Helltide areas, enemies are much tougher, but there are rewards you can get with Aberrant Cinders. Not only that, but you can farm Forgotten Souls in the Diablo 4 Helltide events, which we’ll explain where to find.

Similar to those Aberrant Cinders, Forgotten Souls are a special drop during Helltide events. You can use Forgotten Souls as a crafting material to upgrade Sacred and Ancestral items. You’ll only receive these types of gear drops in the endgame, once you’re on World Tier III or above. So don’t worry about Forgotten Souls unless you’ve completed the campaign.

What are Sacred and Ancestral items? This type of quality can apply to any rarity of item, but it’s best to have a Legendary Sacred or Ancestral item. Your stats will be much higher than if it didn’t have this quality. But if you attempt to upgrade the item through a Blacksmith, you’ll need Forgotten Souls.

Where you can find and farm Forgotten Souls in Diablo 4 is after defeating hoards of enemies. There’s a chance that enemies during Helltide will drop Forgotten Souls. The only problem with farming this material is the fact that it doesn’t drop as often as Aberrant Cinders do. Also, since Helltide events only appear a few times throughout the day, it can be difficult trying to obtain this material. If you’re in desperate need of Forgotten Souls, spend the full hour that a Helltide event lasts blasting through mobs.

Luckily, there are two other ways you can find Forgotten Souls. First, find them by opening Helltide Mystery chests. You can spend your Aberrant Cinders on opening these chests, which will reward you with a surprise.

Another way you can get a Forgotten Soul is by mining Screaming Hell Veins. These ore deposits are only available during Helltide. Overall, the best way to farm Forgotten Souls is by killing enemies, mining any Screaming Hell Vein you come across, then using your Aberrant Cinders to open Mystery chests.
