Why are Loadout Drops gone in MW3 and are they coming back?

Where's my Loadout?

Loadout Drops are currently disabled in Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer. The reason for this may or may not surprise you, but regardless, here’s why Loadout Drops are disabled in MW3 and when they’ll come back.

Where are Loadout Drops in MW3?

While Loadout Drops are still available in Warzone, you can’t use Loadout Drops in Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer right now. In fact, according to Call of Duty Updates on Twitter (or X), Loadout Drops are permanently disabled in MW3.

If you have the Loadout Drop Field Upgrade equipped in your Loadout, when you launch into a match, you’ll spawn in with an Ammo Box instead. If you don’t want to spawn into MW3 multiplayer with an Ammo Box, be sure to change your Field Upgrade.

When will Loadout Drops come back in MW3?

As the official news states, Loadout Drops are “permanently disabled” in MW3 multiplayer. Sledgehammer Games Twitter (or X) shed light on the reason by stating that players were using Loadout Drops to “reach exploitable locations.” It only takes a few players to ruin it for everyone.

It doesn’t surprise me that players were using Loadout Drops to reach unreachable places. We were doing that back in the OG Modern Warfare 3 with Care Packages. What is surprising is the response of banning Loadout Drops permanently.

So, when will Loadout Drops come back? We know it says permanently, but really, we know Loadout Drops will eventually come back. They’re too loved an item not to. My best guess is that Loadout Drops will come back when Activision finds a way to disable people from using them to perform glitches.

Until then, nobody gets to use Loadout Drops in MW3 multiplayer. You’ll need to work on getting your Collateral kills with one Loadout instead of relying on Loadout Drops to give you the options you seek.
