At a time when many are closely monitoring the contents of their wallets, it’s nice to see at least some discount when you hit confirm in your online checkout cart. Over the years, the Steam Winter Sale has helped bring in the winter solstice with price decreases for some of the popular games of the year. If you’re already anticipating a Steam gift card or two in your stocking, it might be wise to cash in on some of these upcoming discounts during the 2022 Steam Winter Sale from December 22 to January 5.
During the Steam Winter Sale, there are usually some hefty price cuts on titles, franchises, and downloadable content. This year is no different. A recent trailer for the sale shows some of the price changes on big titles. Games like Fallout 76, Persona 5 Royal, Two Point Campus, and many, many more were shown off and teased in the trailer. Even the recently released Sonic Frontiers makes an appearance in the montage of markdowns. And judging by the trailer, the sale will do its usual to cover its genre bases, having sims, action-adventure, and multiplayer experiences all thrown into the mix.
2022 Sales and beyond
The Steam Winter Sale kicks off on December 22 and will conclude on January 5, 2023, at 10 AM PT. With “thousands” of digital items to sift through and discover, there’s surely something for you to pry open your wallet for. And, even if you’re low on shillings or doubloons, there are often some free games to claim during the sale. It was also noted earlier this year that the annual sales will see changes in the timeframe they go live. In a blog post on Valve’s event page, it notes the plans for next year’s sales. The Steam Winter Sale will be followed up with the Spring Sale from March 16 to March 23, 2023.
