Apex Legends bug introduces pre-game melee brawl

The first rule of dropship fight club, tell everyone about dropship fight club.

The latest Apex Legends update has dropped a bunch of great quality of life changes into the game. Players also now have a better place to practice with the new firing range and, for a limited time, you can play as a duo. Respawn Entertainment has also unwittingly added something else to the game. One of the worst Apex Legends bugs yet, the ability to damage and knock players before they even drop.

During the loading screen, when your character selection and the champion squad are being displayed, hitting your melee button will now attack anyone near you in the dropship. If you thought getting killed before you manage to find a weapon was annoying, just wait until you get killed before your game even loads. You’ve got to laugh, just to prevent yourself from crying.

Game over, for now

This is the arguably the most game-breaking bug Apex Legends has ever had. And the melee dropship glitch isn’t just limited to the new duo mode either. It’s also happening in the standard trio mode, which means it’s also occurring in ranked.

Players can’t take the risk of playing ranked while it’s in the game. If you’re in Platinum, Diamond, or Predator, you could lose 36, 48, or 60 ranked points respectively just for trying to join the game. It’s hard enough trying to climb the higher ranks without a blind melee brawl thrown in at the start.

Rock beats everything

Apex Legends has had a few spectacular bugs in the past. The other notable one from Season 3 was a glitch that let you hide inside a rock. You were completely invisible to enemies inside the rock. This hiding spot allowed players to easily survive to the end of the game and get a jump on their opponents in the final battle. Let’s hope the pre-game melee brawl bug doesn’t last as long as the hollow rock one.

Apex Legends is available for free through Origin on PC, but soon it will also be coming to Steam. You may want to wait a day or two before dropping in though.
