Apex Legends Mirage guide – tips and tricks for the trickster

Mirage is no joke.

Passive ability: Now You See Me…

Recommended Videos

There are a lot of good Passive abilities in Apex Legends, Fuse and Lifeline have amazing ones. However, Mirage’s Passive might be the best one in the game when it comes to clever and creative plays. For instance, a hologram spawns when you get downed. This will buy you a few extra seconds to crawl away, so make sure you don’t immediately put up your Knockdown Shield. You have five seconds of invisibility to work with, so use it wisely.

Now You See Me… really shines when you use it to revive downed teammates though. You both go invisible while Mirage performs the revive. That’s amazing. In the chaos of an Apex Legends fight, this often works. Tell your teammates to try and break line of sight with enemies – it can be something as simple as crawling into a bush or dropping off a ledge. You also need to watch for your enemies turning away briefly. This can give you the window you need to pounce on your downed teammate and get off the revive. When the enemies come looking, they’ll struggle to find your location.

When playing Mirage, you should always be the one using Respawn Beacons to bring back a dead teammate. Your Passive will also allow you to do this invisibly. It’s a simple thing, but get into the habit of telling your team ahead of time.

Mirage is also an excellent candidate for carrying a Gold backpack. The pack causes you to revive players with 50 shields and 70 health. Not full health, but certainly enough to jump straight into battle without the need to heal. In effect, you can get off sneaky revives right under your enemies’ noses and then suddenly reappear with an ally ready to fight.

The enemy Crypto has no idea I’m reviving my teammate right next to where he lands. I would have had free shots at his back if the pesky Octane hadn’t stumbled onto us.

Ultimate ability: Life of the Party

If you are good with Psyche Out, then you won’t need Life of the Party to fool enemies. The invisibility on the Ultimate is only one second, so it’s not enough time to close the distance on an enemy or run to cover. Think of Mirage’s Ultimate as a panic button. You use it when you have no other option and need to briefly confuse the people shooting at you.

Life of the Party will send five holograms out from Mirage that mimic his movements. You can make it six decoys if you use your Tactical just before the Ultimate. The goal with this play is to cause a mess (much like a crowded bar or dancefloor) which buys you a few seconds to get to cover.

Mirage’s Ultimate ability also has a short 60 second charge time. Don’t hold onto it and wait for the perfect opportunity. If you have the slightest feeling you need to use it, go for it.
