Destiny 2 Season Of The Worthy Grandmaster Nightfall Ordeal Rewards Conqueror Title Seal

Bungie details lackluster rewards for Destiny 2’s Grandmaster Nightfall Ordeal

Destiny 2‘s Season of the Worthy has been highly criticized for a number of flaws. In our official review, we considered it as one of the most disappointing Destiny 2 DLCs thus far due to a lack of meaningful content. One content that’s part of the season calendar (seen below) is the Grandmaster difficulty for the Nightfall Ordeal which lets players obtain the Conqueror title. Sadly, it doesn’t look like it’s shaping up to be a very rewarding activity at first glance.

Destiny 2: Season of the Worthy – Grandmaster Nightfall Ordeal rewards (or lack thereof)

The news comes from the latest This Week At Bungie post. The developers explained the design philosophy behind the Grandmaster Nightfall Ordeal:

  • Grandmaster should build on Master difficulty, but be significantly more challenging.
  • Once you reach a certain bar, the challenge should be found completely in perfecting your builds, communication, and execution.
  • The primary rewards should be doled out on initial completion.
  • Completion should be the primary metric for success, rather than score or time or another in-activity metric like ‘killing all Champions’
  • Grandmaster should stress the top end of build crafting.
  • Grandmaster should be watchable.

The post also mentions that this mode will have 1050 power level (PL) enemies and that players need to be 1025 PL to participate. However, you won’t gain advantages for being above that threshold. Tough luck for anyone who tried to tediously grind bounties for artifact XP. The mode also has two modifiers revealed so far:

  • Extinguish – the fireteam goes back to orbit upon wiping
  • Limited Revives – the fireteam only has a few revives; will increase as players kill more champions

Sadly, the activity only nets you a higher chance of getting exotics or upgrade materials, with no mention of exclusive loot whatsoever. Its most important reward is the Conqueror seal or title which you can get after completing all the strikes that are part of the weekly rotation. Bungie also mentioned that the activity “should be watchable,” as if focusing on streamers trying to do old content for lackluster rewards sounds like an enticing prospect for viewers.

In any case, the Grandmaster Nightfall Ordeal goes live on April 21. We’ll see just how rewarding and watchable it is by then.
