Genshin Impact Golden Slumber guide – Meeting Bonifaz, finding the archaeologists, and unlocking the Red Desert Threshold domain
Let’s talk about how you can unlock the Red Desert Threshold domain in Genshin Impact. Surprisingly enough, this requires a well-hidden trigger that would cause a small section of the map to change.
For starters, go to Aaru Village and talk to an NPC named Bonifaz. He’s next to a market stall at the foot of the hill where Candace’s house is located.
Bonifaz will say that his friend is missing, along with a team of archaeologists. This will start the Golden Slumber quest in Genshin Impact.
Follow the markers on the map, looping around as you go. Eventually, you’ll reach the area with the sand dunes. Accepting this quest triggered the creation of a sinkhole, allowing you to see what’s down below.
Go ahead and glide down, and you’ll spot the Red Desert Threshold. Interact with it so that it gets unlocked permanently.
Next, talk to the NPCs here, such as Tirzad the researcher, as well as Jeht and Jebrael, a father and daughter merc duo.
After a short conversation, you’ll have to lead them to safety by going through the ruins. Tirzad will unlock the massive doorway, leading to a bunch of puzzles and an intricate quest item. We discuss these in the next part of our Genshin Impact Golden Slumber guide.
