How to holster your weapon in Cyberpunk 2077

Play more passively this way.

Like many CD Projekt Red games such as The Witcher 3 which had so many controls to remember, Cyberpunk 2077 follows that style. Each button on your controller or mouse and keyboard is dedicated to either one action or several. Cyberpunk 2077 also has a very wordy UI meaning, a lot is going on and some important details might be overlooked. One mechanic that I found buried underneath the game’s UI is the ability to holster your weapon. Believe me, the function is present in the RPG. This guide will show you how to holster your weapon in Cyberpunk 2077. If you don’t, you may draw unwanted attention to yourself. In Night City, that’s the last thing you want to do.

Cyberpunk 2077: How to holster your weapon

I’ll admit I was already at least 13 hours into the game on my first run-through when I found this option. As soon as I began putting away my weapon, to no one’s surprise, NPCs wouldn’t attack me anymore, which was great. To holster your weapon, on PC, hold Left Alt. On consoles such as Xbox and PlayStation, hold Y of the former and hold triangle on the latter. Doing this action regardless of platform will bring up your weapon wheel. Initially, I would select the fist option on the left thinking it was the way to put away the gun. However, I would accidentally serve a poor bystander a knuckle sandwich which wouldn’t make things easier. To physically put away your weapon select the option on the right-hand side of the wheel. You can use the image below as a reference.

The importance of putting away your weapon

As mentioned, it could get the more violent NPCs if your weapon is drawn. On top of that, cops act differently in the latest patch of the game. I found out the hard way they chase you. If you look at a cop with your weapon out and even if you’re not using it, they may attack you. So it’s a good idea to put it away when you can.
