How to play Creative Mode in Sons of the Forest

Let's get Creative.

Sons of the Forest 1.0 has Creative Mode, but there’s a catch. Just like everything else in Sons fo the Forest, the Creative Mode catch is brutal.

How to unlock Sons of the Forest Creative Mode

The only way to unlock Creative Mode is by completing the entire campaign. That’s right, you need to roll credits on Sons of the Forest, which takes about 15 hours, to unlock Creative Mode permanently. Yeah, it’s annoying.

We know that Sons of the Forest Creative Mode is only accessible after beating the campaign because that’s what the official Sons of the Forest 1.0 patch notes say. Specifically, it says, “Added creative mode, with a new alternate creative inventory, and ability to skip build animations (unlocks when players complete the game story).”

If you have already completed the Sons of the Forest campaign, you may already have the Creative Mode unlocked. Since there are a few changes to the story, you may need to complete the Sons of the Forest campaign again to unlock Creative Mode.

The Forest, the predecessor of Sons of the Forest, also required you to beat the game to get Creative Mode. This upset the community and I’m upset that they’ve gone with the same tactic. For people who want to enjoy Sons of the Forest casually like me, it’s a major turn-off to know that you can only play Sons of the Forest Creative Mode if you beat the main campaign.

If you want to unlock Creative Mode in Sons of the Forest but are scared of the campaign, I recommend you play the game on Peaceful Mode. This is the easiest difficulty that removes many of the enemies in the game. All you have to do to unlock Creative Mode is beat the game; they never specify if you need to beat the game at a particular difficulty. On your way to unlocking Creative Mode, you should learn how to install electricity.
