Modern Warfare Zombies (MWZ) Countermeasures guide: How to find all infected spores and beat Krawvir

Prepare to counter.

Countermeasures is another mission in Modern Warfare Zombies that takes you into a Dark Aether Zone. To prep for this mission, I recommend you have Speed Cola, Quick Revive, and Jugger-Nog, two level two or three Pack-a-Punch weapons, a 3-Plate Armor Vest, a Self-Revive Kit, a Gas Mask, and an Ammo Mod like Cryo.

After adding Aether Tools, Aetherium Crystals, Perk-a-Colas, and Ammo Mods to your Rucksack and equipping the Countermeasures mission, deploy into Urzikstan. By the way, I did this mission solo, unlike Bad Signal which I needed a squad to complete. It was challenging, but it’s doable thanks to the allies you get. Of course, a squad would make this mission easier.

The Countermeasures Aether Gate is in the Tier 3 red zone of the map with level three zombies, but all the zombies in the Dark Aether Zone are level two. Still, I recommend Pack-a-Punch level two or three on one or both of your weapons.

I recommend using Decoy Grenades to keep the level-three zombies at bay until you launch into the Dark Aether Zone. Don’t forget that all the players in your squad need to vote by opening the tac-map and pressing the button in the top right corner to vote yes.

How to escort the ACV in MWZ Countermeasures

After meeting up with Ravenov in the Dark Aether Zone which happens immediately, go to the building with the winged S shape icon. Use the door on the backside to climb the stairs and meet the other ally soldiers.

Once that is done, go outside and get on the ACV. It starts immediately and, thank heavens, doesn’t have a health bar. Stay on top of the ACV the entire time and pick off the zombies that get too close.

The ACV will stop and the carnival will be on your right. Enter it and go to the source of the pulsing. Interact with the UAV-looking device.

There’s no way to avoid it — you will get surprise attacked by a Mimic named Pulse. It’s fairly easy to defeat. As always, be careful of enemy zombies and Hellhounds, but once you have an open window, unload into Pulse.

With Pulse defeated and the disturbance gone, you’ll continue until you get to a red land mine. After some dialogue, the ACV will pick it up and move on. Stay on top until you reach the building with Fletcher in it.

How to find all 15 infected spores in MWZ Countermeasures

I found this part of the mission to be the hardest. You need to go inside the building, which is full of poisonous gas, and destroy 15 infected spores. These look exactly like the ones you find in Infested Strongholds.

My advice for finding all 15 infected spores is to look for the white-yellow blobs on walls and ceilings. There aren’t any outside or past any doors; they are all in the main cross area of the building. Many of them are near the stairs. I recommend methodically scanning the entire lower level and then the entire upper level. If you’re thorough, you’ll find and eliminate all 15 infected spores.

While you defeat the spores, Manglers and Disciples will show up, so watch out for that. Also, staying in the gas without a gas mask will chip away at your armor, but you can stay for a lot longer than you think. Keep an eye on your armor and don’t get hit. There are multiple gas masks scattered throughout the mall, so store them when you find them.

Once all 15 infected spores are destroyed, go outside and clear adds until Fletcher and his soldiers come outside. Hop back on the ACV and ride it until you reach the final area. Here, you’ll be tasked with activating the PND which is on the stage. When you get an open window, activate it.

You now need to wait for it to reach 100% like an Outlast mission. Continue running in circles and defeating zombies. Luckily, they drop armor plates and ammo which is another reason you want to stay moving.

How to defeat Krawvir in MWZ Countermeasures

With that done, Fletcher will betray you and turn his soldiers into zombies. One will turn into a Mangler boss called Krawvir. The hardest thing about Krawvir is he has a lot of health. Other than that, the key to defeating him quickly is shooting directly at his head.

He has the usual Mangler cannon attack, but he also has a pulse attack that jams your gun and blurs your vision. These are annoying to deal with but aren’t an issue unless you’re surrounded by zombies. Keep beaming Krawvir directly in the skull, even if he is within melee range of you, and you’ll defeat the boss in no time.

What rewards do you get in MWZ Countermeasures?

With Krawvir defeated, you’ve completed the Countermeasures mission. You’ll find an Ammo Mod, a Perk-a-Cola, a Blood Burner Key, and a Drum. The Drum is the most mysterious idea and is used like the Sigils to permanently open this Dark Aether Zone. Nice work and happy hunting!
