Tales from the Borderlands will be an episodic game developed by Telltale Games in collaboration with Gearbox Software. The episodes will be set after the events of Borderlands 2 and will feature two new protagonists. The games will be in Telltale’s episodic style but will still feature a spin on the shooting mechanics that make Borderlands so fun.
During a SXSW panel, Borderlands 2 writer Anthony Burch, Franchise Director Matthew Armstrong, Telltale’s President Kevin Bruner, and designer Harrison Pink, sat down to answer some questions and reveal new information on the upcoming game. They said that the game will still take place on Pandora and some familiar faces from previous Borderlands games will make an appearance. However, the game will feature two new protagonists, Fiona and Rhys.
The current owners of the Duke Nukem IP, Gearbox Software, is suing 3D Realms and Interceptor Entertainment. Gearbox has accused the studios of using the Duke Nukem property without authorization. The lawsuit is over 3D Realm’s new Duke Nukem game, Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction which was revealed via a teaser website that has a clock counting down to the 25th of February.
The complaint states: “Apparently, after selling its Duke Nukem IP rights to Gearbox in 2010, 3DR sought to privately convince others that the sale never happened,” it continues: “The result is the unauthorized development effort that reportedly exists between 3DR and Interceptor.”
