Nintendo announces a price drop on five big games

Nintendo have released a press statement which reveals that on April 22nd five big games available on the Nintendo 3DS will receive a price drop. The games are currently priced at $39.99 but will soon drop in price by $10 to $29.99. The games are Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros 2, Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Donkey Kong Country. Make the jump to find out more.

EA apologises for “Unacceptable” Nintendo April Fool’s jokes

Yesterday there were many funny jokes and fake news articles in honor of April Fools. They ranged from the famous Youtuber Boogie2988 uploading a video that claimed he’d been allowed to play the first 30 minutes of Half -Life 3, but in reality was just a video of him eating celery for 30 minutes, to the reports that there would be DLC for an Optimus Prime Mech in Titanfall.  All of these were funny and expected by gamers but it seems some folks at EA went a bit far with their prank.

Gameboy Advance games are coming to the Wii U

Yesterday Nintendo’s official UK Facebook page announced that Gameboy Advance games will be making their way to Nintendo’s Wii U virtual console next week.

Originally released in 2001, Advance Wars will be the first game to be available and will be released on April 3rd in the UK. The turn based tactics game holds an average score of 92/100 on Metacritic and was the first in a series of games to be released.

Nintendo characters to be toys in McDonald’s Happy Meals

The folks at Nintendo UK have teamed up with McDonald’s to encourage kids to be more active by allowing some of its most iconic video game characters to be made into toys that will be given out with every Happy Meal. As of the 19th of March, each Happy Meal you buy will include one of eight Super Mario characters.

The characters included in the selection are Mario, Luigi, Toad, Donkey Kong and the classic Super Mushroom power-up. Four of the eight toys will be interactive, including Mario and a hovering coin, Donkey Kong Barrel Projector, a super sound mushroom and Mario’s warp pipe embosser.

Nintendo Plans To Enter Emerging Markets

This may have passed by the radar of most gamers and news outlets, but it’s no less newsworthy. Nintendo’s plans for the coming years include entering emerging markets, possibly with new products.

Iwata has been talking about this since an investor’s meeting Nintendo held July of last year. Iwata expressed interest in entering these countries then, but they felt they had to improve their standing in their primary markets first. More after the link.
