Eariler this year Amazon acquired Killer Instinct developer Double Helix Games, and now publisher Microsoft Studios has brought a new developer onto the title, one with fighting games experience Iron Galaxy Studios. Double Helix is currently finishing up Killer Instinct’s first season of content. The eighth and final add-on character Fulgore will be released on April 9th.
Microsoft pledges that Killer Instinct is still getting the pending update that includes Fulgore, and the long awaited Story Mode, this month.
Amazon has just revealed that they have acquired Double Helix Games. While the financial terms have not been revealed, Double Helix has agreed to selling both their talent and IP to Amazon. Double Helix has recently seen its name gain some prominence following being hired to make new installments of Strider and Killer Instinct.
While TechCrunch thought this is related to rumors of Amazon making a microconsole, we recently confirmed that Amazon has no such plans, partly because the business is so bad.
Capcom has revealed new information for Strider, including more game modes and release dates.
The two new announced game modes are Beacon Run, which is the speedrun, and the self explanatory Survival Mode. You can also pick up costumes from older Striders throughout the game, and collecting them all opens up customizable costumes options.
